IM10 is located on the lower slopes of Collserola, in Barcelona’s Sarrià–Sant Gervasi district, a privileged position that overlooks the city while remaining in direct contact with the surrounding nature. The house, distributed across three levels, benefits from a unique landscape condition: a mix of urban views and a private garden that brings nature to the hplace.
The intervention focuses on the lowest level of the property, transforming it through a full renovation and a volume extension that strengthens its relationship with the outdoors. The aim is to bring nature into the home and open the interior to new flows of light, views and calm.
The main gesture of the project is the expansion of the ground floor, extending the built surface towards the garden to create a more generous indoor–outdoor connection. Large openings, new spatial sequences and improved circulations allow the exterior landscape to become an active part of the home, blurring the boundary between inside and outside.
Every design decision reinforces this fluidity: the living room, dining area and kitchen are conceived as a continuous space oriented towards the garden, while the layout adapts naturally to the topography and the existing structure. The renovation enhances comfort, brightness and openness, making the lower level the heart of the house
The reformed floor includes a complete program: a spacious living–dining–kitchen area connected directly to the exterior, and two bedrooms, one of them an en-suite with a more private yet equally close relationship to the garden. Each room is designed to take advantage of natural light and views, transforming the ground level into an intimate, warm and functional living space.
Materials and textures are selected to respect the origins but yet creating an echo to the surrounding nature, reinforcing the visual continuity between the landscape and the interior. The extension, the new façade openings and the improved circulations turn the lowest level into a bright, contemporary and serene home that embraces the mountain and the garden as part of its daily life.
